Straight answers about money
Most agencies make you sit through three meetings before mentioning a number. Here's how our pricing actually works — ranges, payment terms and engagement models — so you can decide if we're in your ballpark before we ever talk.
What projects typically cost
Every project is quoted individually after a free consultation — these ranges exist so you can sense-check the investment before we start.
Small project
£10K – £30K
4–12 weeks
A focused tool that removes one big pain: a quoting system, a booking system, a customer portal, a reporting suite over your existing data.
- Discovery & wireframes
- Design, build & testing
- Azure deployment
- Post-launch support period
Mid-sized platform
£40K – £150K+
3–9 months
A system that runs a whole side of the business: a CRM shaped around your sales process, a stock and ordering platform, an e-commerce build with back-office integration.
- Everything in Small project
- Phased launches with real users
- Third-party integrations
- Training & rollout support
Enterprise platform
£150K+
6–12+ months
A full ERP or multi-department platform — quotes, orders, production, stock, invoicing and reporting in one system, like the build powering New Design Windows.
- Everything in Mid-sized
- Multi-department workspaces
- Data migration from legacy systems
- Long-term development partnership
Three ways to work with us
Fixed-price project
Scope, price and timeline agreed after discovery, then delivered in phases. Around 20% deposit on average, with the remainder tied to milestones you approve — you always know exactly what you owe and what you get for it.
Ongoing development
For products that keep evolving: a monthly development allocation working through a prioritised backlog. Most clients move to this after launch — the system grows with the business, without re-quoting every change.
Maintenance plan
Hosting, monitoring, security patches and bug fixes for a predictable monthly fee. Azure hosting costs are passed through at cost — we tell you exactly what the infrastructure costs, with no markup games.
The honest answer to "why the range?"
Integrations
Each system we connect (accounts, couriers, payment providers) adds scope — but usually pays for itself fastest.
Number of workflows
A tool for one team costs less than a platform every department touches.
Data migration
Moving years of records out of spreadsheets or a legacy system safely takes real care.
Mobile & field use
Apps for engineers, drivers or site teams add platforms to build and test.
Compliance needs
Audit trails, certifications and regulated-data handling add design and testing time.
Phasing
Launching a smaller phase one earlier spreads cost — and lets the system start paying for itself sooner.
Our promise: after the free consultation you get an itemised, fixed quote — not an estimate that doubles. If we think software isn't the right answer for your problem, we'll tell you that too.
Pricing questions, answered
The money questions every owner asks — answered the way we'd answer them on a call.
How long does it take to develop custom software?
Small applications typically take 4–12 weeks, while larger platforms can take 3–12 months. We confirm a realistic timeline after the discovery phase, and our phased launch approach means you see working software well before the full release.
How much does custom software development cost?
Small projects typically start around £10K–£30K; mid-sized applications range from £40K–£150K+; larger enterprise platforms can exceed that. Every project gets a free initial consultation, after which we provide an accurate, itemised quote — no surprises.
Do you offer ongoing support and maintenance?
Yes. We offer flexible maintenance plans covering bug fixes, feature enhancements and performance monitoring. Most clients stay with us long after launch — we treat it as a partnership, not a handover.
Who owns the code once the project is completed?
Codira retains the rights to the underlying code, and you receive a licence covering use, distribution and sale of your product. We’re happy to talk through licensing options during your consultation.
How much deposit do I have to pay?
Typically around 20% on average, though it varies by project size and structure. We agree the full payment schedule up front so there are never surprises.
Can you host the software for us?
Yes. We develop and deploy in Microsoft Azure and can host, monitor and maintain your product end-to-end. Hosting costs depend on the resources your product needs, and we keep them transparent.
